Hammoon Gold Rush

In 2014 we hosted a weekend of cycle races in Shaftesbury, Dorset. On the Saturday we held a hill climb race up the famous Gold Hill. The Hammoon Gold Rush featured a laser timing system to record split second accuracy and create an exciting competitive atmosphere.

1st - Paul Hopkins (13.568)
2nd - Kim Little (13.610)
3rd - Barnaby Cox (14.090)
 4th - Dean Frost (15.442)
 5th - Sam Pociecha (16.577)
 6th - Robert Ward (17.019)
 7th - James Hywelt -Davies (17.557)
 8th - James Howell (20.052)
 9th - Freddie Coreth (21.045)
10th Emily Dewey (22.926)
 11th - Alister Donn (25.165)
 12th - Joe Donn (27.632)
 13th - Sasha Howarth-Jones (59.712)

On the Sunday we held a day of criterium races around the town centre. set against the backdrop of the beautiful narrow winding streets of Shaftesbury on a sunny day, the event saw some fantastic racing and a great atmosphere for      spectators. Food provided by Indulge Bakery - thanks to Sarah  and her wonderful team who  also ran around  feeding  our marshals.

We had riders from U8 to Elite and Womens. For  full  results please go to British Cycling

Everyone enjoyed the day and mentioned what a great  location it was for a race and a welcome change  from boring airfields and tracks!

We couldn't have done it without our great friends  and volunteers who gave up their time to make it  such a successful weekend.

2015 has been a busy year for us here, both with  the shop and at home (we now have a beautiful  baby girl) so we didn't have time to organise and  run  our races over the summer.  We are however  in  the early stages of planning another weekend  of  cycling in Shaftesbury for 2016 so watch this  space for updates!!
